The internet is a great communication tool. I'm going to show you how to use the internet to communicate effectively with your customers and reduce the cost of your outgoing calls.

OUTGOING TELEPHONE CALLS

Using the Skype Internet Telephony system has many benefits, not least that it provides your customers with another way to communicate with you free of charge but also that it can greatly reduce the cost of your outgoing calls. You will need speakers and a microphone on your computer at the bare minimum to make this work for you. There are, however, many user friendly handsets now on the market including wireless ones that look and work just like a normal phone would. Here are some great examples:

Get your Skype ID, try to make it something that resembles your business name and keep it professional. You can now contact any Skype user free of charge.

Use your Skype account to call normal landlines and mobiles from your computer.

INCOMING TELEPHONE CALLS

Accept incoming calls through your computer or 3 Skypephone Mobile

Regular Skype users will be able to contact you free of charge directly through the Skype messaging and calling system by using your Skype ID. You can also have a 'call me now skype button' running on your website.

Get Skype In and let your customers call you on your computer from their regular/mobile phone (not currently compatible with the 3 Skypephone mobile)

Now get yourself a Skype In telephone number. If you took advantage of Skype Pro you will get discount on the Skype In number. This is a telephone number that allows ordinary phones to call you through your Skype account.

FREE FREEPHONE NUMBER

Get a FREE freephone number and divert it to your Skype In number

Provide your customers with a freephone number for less than £6 per month. The freephone number is FREE and the monthly charge covers the cost of incoming calls since as with every freephone number you pay for the calls you receive.

Divert this number to your Skype In number (your Skype account can be set to forward these calls to your mobile/landline when you are not logged in to Skype).

CALL FORWARDING & VOICEMAIL

Log in to Skype on your computer and click on 'Tools' and then 'Call Forwarding'. Set a regular/mobile telephone number here to forward your incoming calls to when you can't be online (requires credit). You can also set the voicemail function here and record your own message too. If a voicemail is left you will be notified the next time you log in to Skype on your computer.
